Job Description:
We are seeking Installation Engineers to provide a range of activities to implement the installation of communications equipment on or off at customer premises.
Working as part of an installation team, or individually the role will be field based within the UK.
An Installation Engineer shall provide a range of activities to implement the installation of Communications Equipment on & off site within Customer Premises & internal equipment rooms.
Although working as part of a team, some installation activities are complex and non-routine and for all tasks there will be a requirement for individual responsibility and autonomy, particularly in the areas of Customer Relationship, Heath and Safety and environmental aspects.
Working as part of an installation team and performing under supervision, the role will be entirely field based, within Customer premises throughout the UK and Europe.
Reporting to the Field Resource Manager.
Key Responsibility Area
- Health & Safety Awareness
Able to assess, evaluate and control risks to people, property and environment, whilst complying with measures specified within the Work Place Risk Assessment Report.
- Workplace Code of Conduct
A appreciation of the requirement for excellent team and customer facing skills, promoting appropriate personal presentation and behaviour, together with a firm commitment to specified working practices and high work standards.
- Equipment Handling and Protection
The use of appropriate mechanisms for the lifting, movement and storage of equipment and materials, particularly associated with the static discharge risks when handling electronic circuitry, together with appreciation for specific requirements when working on live customer network elements.·
- Quality Control
Appreciate and follow the specified quality control procedures for inspection, recording, sampling and trace-ability of work stages during an installation.
- Fault Reporting
Solid skills in verbal and written communication to allow appropriate, timely and accurate reporting and escalation to the Installation Supervisor
- Effective Communications
The ability to read and respond to textural, numerical and graphical information to the appropriate personnel.
Experience (Recommended experience of work corresponding to this position)
- Technical drawings & Schematics - An understanding of required work utilising provided site specific and generic installation documentation
- Inventory Check - Basic understanding of technical terminology and technical descriptions, which will enable the installer to assess the quality and quantity of materials/equipment supplied to an installation.
- Equipment Fixing & Support - Basic knowledge of fixing /supporting methods to ensure equipment and components are securely fixed to the appropriate structures.
- Installation & Termination of Links –
- Understanding & awareness for correct tooling to be used for all types of installation and application routed in accordance with instructions
- Secured and dressed appropriately in accordance with customer instructions
- Terminated with the specified connector
- Marked with specified labels
- Continuity tested
- Computer literate - Good understandings of Microsoft Windows software are required for reporting procedures.
- Service orientation experience
