Nokia 3 Rollout Project

Products : 3G Node B and Microwave

Scope : Full turnkey management of the deployment of Node B’s and Microwave into 3’s network, on behalf of Nokia. Various retrofit programmes. Node B Live Upgrades.

Services Supplied : Site surveys, Warehousing and Delivery, Access Management, Installation, Commissioning, Integration, Installation Material Supply, Microwave Implementation, Rigging, Field Technical Support, Spares Management, Customer Database Management and Project Management.

Additional information : This was the first project in the UK that Nokia ran under it’s new mode of working, ‘Extended –TI mode of Operation’.  The major difference in this mode of operation resides in the amount of Project Management provided by ICEE. Effectively, ICEE project manages the network rollout on behalf of Nokia.  On top of managing the day-to-day activities of the field teams, ICEE Project Staff are also responsible for:

  • Attending scheduling meetings with the operator and producing the weekly schedules
  • Updating and managing Nokia’s E-Tracker and E-Doc databases
  • Managing site access
  • Taking receipt of equipment from Nokia
  • Tracking inventory within the warehouse
  • Managing delivery to site
  • Managing Cranage or hiabs
  • Completing customer acceptance packs

3’s end of year targets have always been met.  In December2004, more work was conducted in one month than in the first six months of the year.  First ever live upgrades on Nokia Node B’s conducted successfully.
