Visitors seeking a manufacturer of one-off, prototype or high volume parts and fabrications made from sheet or plate metals, plastic composites or other materials will find plenty to look at and discuss with ICEE Managed Services, stand SR22, Seawork International 2017.
A highlight on ICEE’s stand will be large and small three-dimensional (3D) sample components that have been precisely cut from thick plate material by advanced and powerful waterjet, the latest manufacturing service added to the many already offered by ICEE. Often, with no tooling required, this accurate technique offers a real alternative to more expensive milling and casting methods.
ICEE already makes parts, panels and fabrications for many applications in the marine industry including supplying customers that manufacture seagoing vessels, shock-resistant personnel seating and sonar equipment.
Besides manufacturing and fabrication, ICEE offers the marine industry a wide range of services, from single processes to turnkey project management including design for manufacture, production engineering, prototype test and proofing, finishing, packaging and distribution. Individual processes include bending and forming; precision waterjet and laser profiling; fabrication including welding, plating and coating; and assembly services.
All parts and fabrications are made in the UK on modern, highly automated machine tools, set up by professionally qualified operators, with direct links from a 3D computer-aided design (CAD) system, a Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS installation.
ICEE works with a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials and protective finishes for applications in aggressive marine environments. The company’s Stuart Hendry says: “We fabricate sturdy brackets out of stainless steel, laser-cut intricate 2D shapes, sculpt complicated 3D forms out of thick plate with a powerful and multi-axis waterjet process, and we make prototypes and assemble complete products.
“What’s more, we also rigorously test parts and assemblies to meet stringent quality and traceability standards specified by the customer. We can warehouse finished stock and ship it anywhere in the world, according to a customer’s requirements.”
The company’s accreditation includes compliance with BS EN ISO 9001:2000, NICEIC and other important business and industry standards.
ICEE’s marine work is part of a range of services to several market sectors, including provision of telecommunications, broadcasting and data networks; control and communication services to the rail and highways sectors; and a range of services to the architecture, building and construction industry including roofing, electrical and mechanical, architectural and structural metalwork, strip-out and refurbishment. Besides marine industry manufacturers, the company works with regional utilities and authorities, M.o.D establishments, aerospace and satellite communications industries.
