Overview

Bridging the gap between transport infrastructure and modern travel.

For more than two decades, ICEE has partnered with National Highways and its delivery partners, including Balfour Beatty, to manufacture and install approved equipment enclosures that power critical roadside infrastructure.

Designed for demanding environments and long service life, these enclosures play a key role in keeping the UK’s motorway network operating safely and efficiently. Leveraging modern fabrication techniques and in-house assembly, ICEE manufactures the full National Highways enclosure range for deployment across the United Kingdom.
Every unit is produced to meet strict industry standards, ensuring long-term performance in challenging roadisde conditions.

The Challenge

Ensuring reliability across projects.

Projects that impact live road networks place pressure on programme timelines and budgets. Even small delays can have significant knock-on effects, particularly where traffic management and road closures are involved.

ICEE addressed this challenge by optimising manufacturing workflows and aligning production closely with installation schedules. In a recent enclosure programme delivered in partnership with Balfour Beatty, ICEE completed manufacture ahead of the original programme. While measured in weeks, this early delivery translated into meaningful cost savings by reducing time on site, traffic management requirements and operational disruption for road users.

How We Delivered

A controlled, efficient manufacturing process built for live infrastructure projects.

ICEE manages National Highways projects with a strong focus on lead time, cost control and build quality, essential considerations for work carried out alongside live road networks. By combining advanced fabrication methods with experienced project management, we ensure programmes are delivered on time and to specification.

Enclosures are manufactured using modern processes including fibre laser cutting, waterjet cutting and precision metal folding, allowing components to be produced quickly and accurately. Fabrication and assembly are carried out in-house, giving ICEE full control over quality, scheduling and consistency throughout the build.

Working closely with Balfour Beatty, ICEE has supported accelerated delivery schedules where required, reducing installation windows and minimising disruption on site without compromising compliance or durability.
